Hi, I’m Francis, and I’d like to tell you about my passion for key account management (KAM). This is a topic I have lived and breathed for over ten years as a successful practising director and more recently as a specialist KAM consultant.

KAM knowledge and experience

When I started in KAM my first task was to set up a key relationship operation from scratch in a national mortgage lending bank. I know from first-hand experience that this is not an easy task.

Setting up something like this would be even more challenging for those without a good understanding of how businesses fundamentally work. Fortunately, having undertaken an MBA early in my career meant that this was not an issue, and after two years of thoughtful planning and implementation business volumes were increasing by 20% year on year. KAMs contributed a staggering 80% of this, which is more than double the contribution of major distributors at the start of the process.
